Wedding stories are my favourite. It never ceases to amaze me what circumstances give way to people meeting and falling in love.

So there was Brad, a handsome bachelor who walked into Earls Restaurant one night, to meet a blind date. His original seat by the entrance was a bit uncomfortable due to a draft, so he seated himself in the lounge area. Little did he know, in the moments to come he would meet the love of his life, the beautiful woman he would marry on a sandy beach in Dominican Republic one day. And it wasn’t his date – who, by the way (thank goodness), was late due to the weather. If you’ve ever been to an Earls lounge, you know how drop-dead-gorgeous all the cocktail waitresses are. For Brad though, this was more than an instant attraction, there was a deeper … recognition; Courtney was the whole package and he was not leaving without her phone number. Ha! But he did. The only thing Courtney gave him that night was a receipt… and a clue that her next shift was on Friday. Brad came back by himself, all dressed up – and after their first date the following week, they were inseparable.

Brad proposed under the stars in their back yard after a perfect summer day of picking strawberries together. They were sharing a bottle of wine and listening to their favourite song (Strawberry Swing by Cold Play) ‘He surprised me in the dark with a lit up box and the ring was shining so bright from inside it. The proposal was the best and most surprising moment of my life.  Time stopped and I wasn’t expecting it….as soon as I realized what was happening I burst into tears,‘ Courtney writes. Wow.

Their Punta Cana wedding was celebrated at our two favourite places, Dreams Palm Beach resort and Jellyfish Restaurant (yes, because that’s exactly what we did for our wedding and it was the bomb!!) 🙂

Must be a lucky omen! This cute gecko jumped right onto the back of Courtney’s wedding gown. In this image, she’s blindly reaching her hand back and the gecko climbs onto her finger! I’m pretty proud of this one 🙂

Jellyfish Beach restaurant. The BEST there is! And to the left, fabulous Barefoot Jewels by Red-i Chelsea, our favourite beach wedding jewelry company!

Shannon, our wonderful (and Canadian) commissioner of oaths – delivers a beautiful ceremony…

Courtney, you are the most beautiful cryer I’ve ever seen. EVER! They try to come close in movies 🙂

Another beautiful cryer – this one totally put me over the edge – I sure am glad for the autofocus feature on our Canon Mark iii’s!

Courtney & Brad also win for having THE MOST touching song to play following the ceremony…. Drumroll!!!!!!!!! …. The Gladiator theme song, “Now We Are Free” by Hans Zimmer & Lisa Gerrard. Such a tear-jerker.

There’s a wisdom to the way they care about each other. The little things they do for each other are a consistent effort that’s gained enough momentum to become nearly effortless. Courtney shares, ‘this one time I told him I loved Maynards Juicy Squirts Berry and he went to a gas station and bought the whole box of individual packets for me.  Or our 2-time-a-year shoe expedition when he buys me a pair of shoes for summer, and for winter.’ Any guys reading my blog? This is gold! 🙂

Oh, and maybe the COOLEST clutch a bride could hold! Courtney says she picked it up from a mall kiosk in Toronto a few days before the wedding! Pshhhh 🙂

Stunning sea theme, flawlessly executed by Mayte!!

Okay… tell me that’s not the SEXIEST dinner plate you’ve ever seen?! I do have a weakness for lobster. Only at Jellyfish can you enjoy lobster this tender, fresh & juicy, with generous drizzle of their secret champagne sauce!

Surprise performance from Courtney’s talented nephews! They will totally be famous one day. Should’ve grabbed an autograph.

“I”m sexy & I know it” song. You know it, sista.

Fire show, the best in Punta Cana!

Dearest Courtney & Brad – most sincerely, from our hearts to yours. Please make babies soon!!!

This is one of the best destination weddings I have seen in a while – I love that I feel like I know what the couple is like through the images, the details are stunning and those candids of the ceremony are sublime! Well, well done!
