Oh my gosh this Wedding!!
Ivana was that gorgeous and mysterious exchange student from Venezuela, whom Trent laid eyes on at a party – he was back in his hometown of Lanse Au Loup, Labrador just after graduating. Ivana: ‘I remember the first thing he said to me was: God you are so sexy. Then he asked me to play strip poker, hahaha! After I ignored him for a while, he started playing guitar and singing in front of his friends and the rest is history… It melts my heart every time he plays!’ Trent adds, grinning, ‘We hit it off right away – and two days later we were making out in my car!’
For Trent’s Birthday / Wedding gift, Ivana arranged for a super unique and saucy Boudoir session with us (the day before the wedding!) Poor Trent wasn’t sure what was up – when he stopped by their room, Ivana answered the door in a robe, with full make-up on, music playing in the background, a half-empty bottle of champagne on the counter, and sent him away without an explanation (while Rob & I hid in their bathroom, haha)! I’m still not sure how this ended up a surprise… but it was definitely a memorable one for him!
Ivana: ‘As a kid, I wanted to be a model … but I quickly realized that wasn’t going to be possible with my height. So, shortly after that my dad got a job in an Oil Company in Venezuela and I fell in love with the industry. From there I knew I wanted to be a Petroleum Engineer.’ Ivana now enjoys a career as a Field Specialist at an oil company in Alberta.

Cooling off on their private swim-up ‘balcony.’
Trent enjoyed a considerably steamier selection of images on their Wedding Day… best gift EVER, if you ask me! Huge thanks to Ivana for letting me share these and inspiring women to celebrate their radiance.
After so much love-filled planning, the Day was finally here. Ivana rocked two wedding gowns – one for the First Look & Rock the Dress session (Maggie Sottero: Reese), the other – her main ceremony & reception dress by Stella York. Both – perfection.
Our dear and fabulous Anna Nuet & her amazing new associate Andrea on beauty duty.
Shoes by Badgley Mischka & Jewelry by Chelsea Bond.
Brilliant custom hair piece by Chelsea Bond – the same wildly talented designer whose destination jewelry I rocked on my wedding day.
Top three things Ivana loves about Trent: ‘His voice when he sings, the way he takes care of me and the house while I am away, and the way he believes in me and pushes me to be better every day.’
Trent loves about Ivana: ‘Smarts. Beauty. What’s not to love.‘
We arrive to Huracan Cafe ahead of the guests to take in the splendour of Mayte & Nati’s hard work.
Ivana, on the Proposal:
‘Trent surprised me with a weekend getaway to Banff! He had hired a photographer to capture the special moment and proposed in Spanish hahaha… It was amazing.’
Wooden Wedding Guestbook from GraceGraffiti.
Nati’s beautiful daughter aka princess Julia honoured the Couple by being their flower girl… no one could’ve done a better job!!
A unique creation by Ana of Cake Studio Bavaro.
Ivana: ‘Trent recorded a song for me to walk down the aisle to. He knows I am a sucker for that! At the beginning he was going to sing and play for me, but then we decided that might be too emotional.’
Traditional sand ceremony with sand from Venezuela, Canada & Punta Cana.
Ivana’s favourite guilty pleasures: ‘sleeping in, eating Chinese food, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, popcorn smothered in white cheddar seasoning, and Cheetos Crunchy.’
Trent’s favourite guilty pleasure: ‘popcorn.’
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I heard about Ivana & Trent’s planned Nefoundland Screech in & Cod-kissing ceremony… It was so much fun! (I’m glad no one made me kiss the fish though)
The next morning, we brought Ivana & Trent to Macao Beach for a sunrise Rock the Dress experience…
Ideal day together according to Ivana: ‘sleep in until dinner time with our beloved pug, go for a walk around the park with our dog, mix a piña colada, get into our hot tub and end the night eating popcorn while we watch a movie.’
Ideal day together according to Trent: ‘stay home in bed cuddling all day and watch a full season of Breaking Bad or some other good movies.’
Oh, and those chiseled, dehydrated-looking, tanned & oiled teenagers we shared the beach with … were models on a commercial photo shoot. Fun!
Most romantic memory together according to Ivana: ‘Last summer we went camping for one of our friend’s wedding and there was no cellphone service, so we spent all or most of the night talking and drinking wine.’
Most romantic memory together according to Trent: ‘Definitely our engagement weekend.’
If Trent had a magical powers … ‘he’d be able to convert water into Lambs rum.’
If Ivana had a magical power … ‘she’d be able to charge her cell phone just by looking at it.’
Ivana: ‘He helped me to get through all the hard times at college; he motivated me and pushed me to follow my dreams and to be better every day. I wouldn’t be where I am today and I wouldn’t have accomplished everything I have so far without Trent and his support.’
Trent: ‘She definitely motivates me to become a better person. I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without her. She is incredible.’
BRIDE & GROOM POST-WEDDING REFLECTIONS:
What did you love most about your Wedding?
Trent: ‘When Ivana walked down the aisle and when she said I Do.’
Ivana: ‘Doing our First Look… Having those moments alone with Trent before the ceremony started – it really helped me to calm my nerves. Also, walking down the aisle and seeing my bridesmaids and guests crying… I could feel all the love and emotions from them.’
Any regrets? What would you have done differently if you could?
Trent: ‘No regrets. Everything was above and beyond what I wanted and expected.’
Ivana: ‘No regrets.. .Even though I was a little upset about a mishap with my bridesmaids’ dresses… the incident only proved to me that I chose the right vendors, as they were standing behind me and showing me their support, making sure I was ok and calm.’
Most memorable moments from the Day / Wedding week?
Trent: ‘When our families arrived to the resort. Also, the catamaran trip we took with everyone was also a blast. And of course the First Look.’
Ivana: ‘The catamaran cruise was my favourite day besides the Wedding Day… after that, it would be seeing our families arrive to Punta Cana to spend that week with us.
The Boudoir photo shoot with Katya & Rob was also so memorable… I never felt soooo sexy yet classy in my life!!
I loved the moment we arrived to Huracan Cafe and finally saw all the gorgeous decor and setup for the first time… It blew me away how beautiful everything was.
Last but not least, having live music at the Wedding was magical, I felt it tied everything together.’
Comments about vendors, resort etc
Trent: ‘All our vendors were awesome… Everyone had a great personality. The resort (Royalton Punta Cana) was beautiful. We did have some issues with it, but we still had a great time.’
Ivana: ‘My vendors were my dream team. I can’t say enough about how good they all were:
Anna Nuet & her associate Andrea: I never felt more beautiful in my entire life. Everyone said my hair and makeup was on point and everyone in the bridal part felt beautiful. Anna was also incredibly easy to carry a conversation with and it was amazing hanging out with her for a day!
Diego Cores Film: I can’t say enough good things about Diego and his team. Diego broke his foot a few days before my wedding and told me he wasn’t going to be able to shoot, instead he would send Juan & Denis from his team. At first I freaked out and was really scared that this was going to jeopardize my video. Diego was really professional and assured me that I had nothing to worry about; and I didn’t: Juan was so easy to work with and take directions from. The videographers were never in the way and it never felt like too much. Diego even showed up to my wedding with his cast and crutches which I really appreciated.
Pastor Rick York: he made everyone in our group laugh and cry… He performed an incredible ceremony and everyone was so touched by it.
Chelsea Bond: she designed the jewellery for my big day and I am glad she did. It was soo classy and beautiful. I truly felt like a Bombshell Bride.
Sharon Kopp of Barefoot Bridal: Sharon being a past Huracan bride, she helped me with the last minute details for my wedding and she was amazing to work with.
Renny Avila: he became our friend after those two weeks in PC. We booked around 10 tours through him and the customer service was always on point. He was always prompt to help with everything and always had an answer for everything.
Vanesa Enciso of Hots Productions: this was her first performance at the Huracan Cafe and she nailed it… She customized the Crazy Hour and added some of the Venezuelan music and it was a blast. The fire show was also incredible.
Mayte & Natalia: what can I say about these two gems? They are the most genuine and beautiful ladies inside and out that I ever met. The made all my dreams come true and they truly cared about me as a bride. I couldn’t had anyone better to take care of my wedding.
Katya & Rob: let me first say that Katya is the most beautiful pregnant lady ever. Her and Rob are full of good energy and positive vibes… It was truly a pleasure to spend three days with them. They have a great artistic eye for pictures and I am glad they were there to capture my day!
Royalton Punta Cana resort: It’s a beautiful resort and even though we had some issues during our stay there, we still managed to have a great time with our family and friends.
Advice for future brides/grooms!?
‘Relax and enjoy the day! Don’t stress over the little things… Nothing will be completely perfect and some things will probably go wrong but at the end of the day, but saying I DO to the love of your life will make everything perfect.’
