Get ready, this is going to be a long one… and a good one. This couple is very special to me.
Before I share the story of Eva & Andrius… their grandmothers were friends… in the concentration camp. Shivers.
They met in Lithuania when Eva’s mom made her go back home for a visit. Eva ended up on a canoe trip, a missing partner to Andrius – an amazing man who would become her fiancee. They barely spent any time together on that trip, but Andrius came to the airport to say goodbye when it was time for Eva to fly back to the States. She cried her eyes out on the plane because it felt as if someone ripped her soul out. Not a day went by without a call or text from him. Five months later, he came to visit for Christmas and they flew to Mexico the next day. That’s where Eva & Andrius had their first date, first vacation and the first ‘I love you.’ Now they live in Stockholm, Sweden – these crazy kids moved to a foreign country together after seeing each other 4(!) times and knowing each other for 1(!) month. Romantic enough? If not, Andrius proposed in Venice, in a canoe … just like when they met. BAM!! If that’s not inspiring, I don’t know what is!!
Eva & I wrote long lovey emails back and forth to each other for over a year. By the time their wedding came, I felt I was about to see a close girlfriend I hadn’t seen for ages! Their Melia Punta Cana wedding was a very emotional one for me. I cried lots of happy tears. Being without Rob probably added to this, but being in the presence of Eva & Andrius really does make you experience life more intensely.
Most of their loved ones came all the way from Lithuania and some from the US. It was also a unique experience speaking Russian to the guests, especially when getting everyone together for family portraits! What an amazing bunch of people. I especially enjoyed Eva’s closest girlfriends. We got to spend time together before the wedding, when they came to Fishing Lodge for a surprise bachelorette party for Eva! (you’ll see a couple of teasers below).
This wedding was also very special because of all the hard work and memories with Jess Shields and Tamara Briggs, two awesome photographers (and now friends) who came to Punta Cana to shoot & mentor with me. I’m proud to share some of their images in this post. Without further ado, here we go!
Eva & I, deep in some wedding-y discussion!
Waiting for the wedding planner to bring Eva to the ceremony gazebo, Eva’s dad takes her for a slow dance to the beats of our little boombox.
We had a surprise waiting for Andrius on the iPad – a super sexy picture of Eva at the pool from the bachelorette party. He’s the only one who got to see it. I love the reaction Jess captured!
This is not the exact photo he saw, but you get the idea!
And while we’re on that note, the bachelorette photo session at Fishing Lodge with Eva, Berta, Sandra and Lina. Stunning ladies!
‘First Look’ in the suite’s private garden area. Tamara, Jess & I all teared up. Big time.
Pastor Rick York did an amazing job on this gazebo ceremony. In case you don’t know yet, he is our favourite.
And then… The most incredible sunset sky I’ve seen in Punta Cana to date. We couldn’t get enough.
Okay, one last sunset picture. Because we really don’t see this every day!
Private beach reception, intimate and romantic.
Love love love you guys to pieces.
