Rob & I just got back to Edmonton from our 2-week mountain road trip. We drove all over Alberta and British Columbia, pausing for weddings and visiting sweet and stunning places along the way. You might shake your head at us here – but it’s so refreshing to get away from the heat & beaches for a while! 🙂 While Rob is unpacking our car, I’m thrilled to share this amazing Kananaskis Country wedding with you.
Regan & Andre met on an online dating site Lavalife (before it got cliche and a bit sleazy!) in February 2007. ‘I was sitting alone at home on a Friday night drinking wine with my cat and decided to sign on,’ says Regan. Andre was one of her first matches. After a few days of chatting on the phone for hours, Regan drove out to the beautiful mountain town of Canmore, AB for their first date, where Andre took her cross-country skiing and … won her heart. Nearly 4 years later, it was time to ask for her hand. Andre chose a moment on Boxing Day, when they were relaxing on their favourite beach in Los Cabos, Mexico.
Their passions and ‘guilty pleasures’ weave together an exciting journey of adventure and romance, as they share a love of mountain biking, skiing, hiking, wine & cheese, boots, sleeping in, traveling the world, indulging in Crave cupcakes & Regan’s famous homemade chocolate lava cakes, and of course their two precious cats, Rain and Soleil!
Delta Lodge at Kananaskis was the perfect place for their wedding. It’s one of the most serene and striking mountain settings in Alberta (and has super comfortable beds and fastest internet ever!)
When Rob & I first walked into the wedding reception tent to capture the details, we immediately thought, ‘if we had a mountain wedding and not a beach one, we would’ve wanted it to be exactly like this!’ Casual elegance, fresh aroma of evergreens and cozy warmth emanating from everything. Bravo, Nicole & co! Regan was right when she said the venue would look like a magazine spread! (Regan’s sister’s hobby is design & home decor.)
I love the relaxed chaos at the beginning of a wedding day, especially when U2 is on. Big thanks to Regan’s friend Marissa for the hair & make-up!
Badgley Mischka wedding shoes & a lucky penny!
Although Regan & Andre may have looked blissful in the last two images, they really had to fight through the thick shrubs to fulfill my vision for the shot… Such troopers! Once there was a moment of stillness, I noticed many ladybugs sunbathing on the silver leaves. Haven’t seen so many since I was a little girl. Note to self: venture out and play in sunny fields more often!

A bit of location scouting – this magnificent view is within a 1-minute walk from the tent! (1 Centennial Drive, Kananaskis Village, AB T0L 2H0, Canada)
To Regan & Andre – thank you so much for sharing your fabulous wedding AND your loving vibes with us! You are a joy to be around and we can’t wait to watch your love & family grow!! xoxo
