PHOTOGRAPHED BY OUR AMAZING ASSOCIATE PHOTOGRAPHER TAMARA.
I’m so in LOVE with this incredible Jellyfish Punta Cana wedding. Take a look through the gorgeous spreads and you will see why. So. Much. Heart! We’ve photographed more weddings at this stunning venue than I could count, but we never quite get used to the beauty, romantic feel and stylish charm of the place!
Melissa & Edwin are both teachers and met at school, Melissa taught Kindergarten and Ed, second grade. How amazing is that?!
Melissa on the Proposal:
“The proposal was AMAZING! I had a 30th Birthday brunch so all of our closest and favorite people were there. Not many people knew what he was up to. In hindsight, I remember him sweating profusely and running around but I wasn’t sure why. The day was a blur filled with laughs, lots of Bellini’s, and some awesome food. My cousin had brought a beautifully decorated and delicious Dominican cake. When the cake comes out, Ed joins me and starts talking. Everyone has their phones out and is recording and I’m feeling super awkward. Next thing I know, he’s down on one knee asking me to marry him. The room bursts with excitement and I can’t believe what is happening. I keep saying “are you serious?” He finally says “this is where you say yes!” I say yes and we hug and the room bursts into loud clapping and cheering. Needless to say, it was the best birthday ever!”
Top three things Melissa loves about Edwin: “It’s so hard to just choose three! I love how genuine Ed is. It doesn’t matter if you are family or not, Ed is everyone’s confidant, their shoulder to lean on, always willing to listen. His genuine love of people is something I have always admired about him. Edwin also has an amazing sense of humor. He is the life of the party and to know him is to love him. He makes my cheeks hurt from laughing all the time! His sense of humor was one of the first reasons I was attracted to him! Last, I’d have to say I love how honest Ed is. He will tell me the truth even if it’s the last thing I want to hear. He has a great way of evaluating all perspectives and making sound judgments that make sense.”
Top three things Edwin loves about Melissa: “There are several things I love about Melissa. I love how genuine she is with people, she doesn’t have the ability to be phony. Whatever she tells me, I know it’s from the heart and is honest. I love how thoughtful Melissa is. I can have an apathetic attitude about a lot of things but she always keeps me grounded. I love the fact that I can trust her with any and everything. I’ve never trusted anybody so blindly as I do her.”

What did you love most about your Wedding, SPECIFICALLY?
Melissa: “I loved how happy everyone was. The love was palpable and it felt great to see all of our guests having such a great time after too much hard work! I also loved how emotional my groom was. Best day of our lives for sure!”
Do you have any regrets? What would you have done differently if you could?
Melissa: “I would make sure we did a Rock the Dress or portraits session, just Ed and I! I want more pictures! Also, wish we would have had more than 5 min for our First Look. It was perfect but I would have loved some more us time pre-ceremony. It’s a matter of managing time!”
Most memorable moments from the Day / Wedding week?
Melissa: “1. The actual Wedding. Total perfection from start to finish. 2. Sanael booze cruise was amazing even in the rain! 3. The day after the wedding, catching up with everyone at the hotel pool.”
Comments about vendors, resort etc
Melissa: “NOW LARIMAR was beautiful and clean and the staff at the bars and restaurants went above and beyond. Management left a lot to be desired. Our group of 70 was not considered a “wedding group” because we got married off resort. Had to fight for basic perks that should have been thrown in.
Jellyfish Restaurant staff exceeded all of our expectations and our day was beautiful. Highly recommend the venue! Even with slight lags in communication and a few mishaps, overall our day and the level of service we received were phenomenal.
Tamara Briggs was my guardian angel. She helped keep me calm, took my annoying veil off when I couldn’t take it anymore, and was everywhere the entire night. We are so happy with our pictures and have heard from so many people we couldn’t attend that they felt like they were right there!
Krystie Ann was a silent wonder. She was able to take all my ideas and make me look exactly how I wanted when I just couldn’t verbalize it. Jazmin was also a total sweetheart and did amazing work on our mothers and a few bridesmaids.”
Any advice for future brides/grooms!
“Stick to your guns and don’t let others sway you with their feelings and opinions. Remember that this is YOUR day! All the things we worried and stressed about did not matter at all. Take a moment with your fiancé and take it all in because it goes by so fast!”
