ONE MONTH ANNIVERSARY REFLECTIONS:

What did you love most about your wedding?

Vincenzo: ‘We were lucky enough to get married twice (well… three times if we count the civil wedding). First in Italy where we had our religious ceremony and family reception. Then after a month, in Punta Cana where we celebrated with all of our friends. We were of course much more relaxed in Punta Cana and could actually focus on our guests and let go of all the small things. I loved the positive energy that everybody brought to the table; that I consider by far the best ingredient for a successful wedding.’

Any regrets? What would you have done differently if you could?

Vincenzo: ‘No regrets on the overall event. Everything went much better than expected. That said, the DJ had set up the lights very close to the dance floor which created a very bright environment that wasn’t my personal favorite (eventually I had the DJ and the Restaurant shut off most of the outdoor lights). Finally, I think the Crazy Hour was overkill. Our guests were going strong on the dance floor and did not need any external ‘support.’ The Crazy Hour was a bit of a distraction at the beginning, but then eventually everybody played along.’

Most memorable moments?

Lillian: ‘The electricity going out just as our dinner ended (It was so sad! I thought for sure the party was over!) and then my wonderful quick-thinking musician friend, Liora, reaching for her guitar and strummed a somewhat familiar tune for me to sing. As soon as I heard the first chord, I knew we would be able to have an awesome party no matter the obstacles ahead.’

Lillian: ‘Our ceremony. My stepfather was our officiant and he did a spectacularly heartwarming and funny service for us. I also got to surprise Vincenzo with a song during the ceremony and got hearty laughs from the cheesy jokes I ad-libbed as I sang.’

Lillian: ‘The romantic and unexpected sunset during our cocktail hour which wowed everyone – even the locals!’

Vincenzo: ‘I think Lillian captured our most memorable moments quite well. I will add that catching up with friends from all over the world whom we don’t see that often and sharing our joy with the people we love will remain with us forever.’

Comments on vendors / resort etc

‘We’ve very satisfied with all our vendors. Everybody showed professionalism, engagement and was truly committed to giving us the best possible service. A big shout out to Jellyfish, Caribbean Celebrations, and Katya & Rob!’

Any advice for future Brides & Grooms?

Lillian: ‘Relish in the excitement and stress of wedding planning. As intense as it may be, you may miss it once you’re done!’

Vincenzo: ‘Slow down every once in a while and look at the smiling faces of your guests. Don’t forget to eat. Watch out for post-wedding depression… I heard it is a real thing!’

Lillian & Vincenzo!! You guys are like family to us now! Next time, we’ll have  to make memories in New York together! 🙂
