BRIDE & GROOM POST WEDDING REFLECTIONS
What did you love most about your Wedding?
Kelly: ‘I loved the First Look. Seeing Mark on the beach and getting to wrap my arms around him before he turned around to see me in my dress for the first time was a magical moment. It was amazing to have that special moment between the two of us before the ceremony took place. There ceremony and reception go by so quickly, it was really during the First Look that we got to spend a few quality minutes with each other.’
Mark: ‘The First Look on the beach right before the ceremony – Kelly looked absolutely beautiful, my heart sank and my eyes filled with a few tears.’
Any regrets? What would you have done differently if you could?
Mark: ‘No regrets! The wedding was absolutely perfect for me – the only regret was not eating the Flan for desert… and perhaps knowing the schedule for the pirate ship ahead of time so that we did not have to hear the loud music mid-ceremony.’
Most memorable moments from the Day / Wedding week?
Kelly: ‘Other than the First Look, seeing my family and friends as I walked down the aisle to the love of my life and the Rock the Dress session at dawn.’
Mark: ‘Seeing the sunrise over the ocean with my wife on my 30th birthday, not missing a beat during our First Dance, the boys channeling their inner boy-band up on the roof of the cabana after a few drinks.’
Comments about vendors, resort etc
Kelly: ‘The Now Larimar preferred club was a great resort to stay at. The food was very good and the staff was outstanding. Its a large enough resort that you can have some privacy but not so large that you get lost.
Anna Nuet – she is absolutely a joy to work with. On the day of the wedding it felt like she was “one of the girls” and made us all so comfortable. Beautiful hair and makeup! The FaceTime calls we had before the wedding relaxed my nerves. I couldn’t imagine anyone else getting us ready that day!
The Jellyfish – Issac is great to work with, so is Janet. The waiter Rafael was amazing and paid personal attention to us and the guests all night. The food was amazing and the DJ had us dancing all night long! Crazy hour is a must!
I’d just like to add that Clara and Gianna are basically glorified decorators and not wedding planners. The Jellyfish staff is beyond amazing, especially Issac, who truly cares for every bride and wants to make it amazing. Janet – not Clara or Gianna will make you feel like a bride on your special day. I personally would not bother spending time sending Clara or Gianna photos of what you want, if possible go to the Dominican before the wedding to see their warehouse and provide anything you don’t see yourself. Any money you spend on personalized signs, table cards, table numbers, etc. will never be printed even if they say they will. I would 100% do my wedding there again, but would have asked Katya for a suggestion for a real wedding planner to oversee everything on my behalf.
Katya & Rob – a MUST! These two are not only great at their work, they are great people. They are always responsive and helpful (I found my venue through this blog, and Katya helped me find Anna for hair and makeup!). They truly felt like our friends through the whole process. We were sad to have to say goodbye after our rock the dress session!
Diego’s (CoresFilms) – Very professional and they work great with Katya and Rob! Fun and very behind the scenes!’
Mark: ‘Adding to what Kelly said… Now Larimar was absolutely perfect – great staff and fantastic drinks! – ask for Antonio Banderas!
The JellyFish staff was extremely friendly (Janet and Isaac) and really went the extra mile to ensure we all had a great time; I would caution however not to expect wedding planners in the traditional sense but “decorators.”
Any advice for future brides/grooms?
Kelly: ‘Don’t let “island time” get to you, try to trust that your vendors are doing everything they can to make your day special. Take a look at a lot of pictures and provide the most detail you can to your venue. If there is a specific piece of decor or specific flowers you must have, express that in the very beginning to make sure it is possible (Peonies were a must for me, at the very end the vendor in Miami was having problems with the shipping. Issac knew how important they were for me so he changed his flight back to the Dominican from Miami to earlier in the week to personally bring the flowers down for my wedding!)
Dearest Kelly & Mark – the perfect and stunning celebration of your Love was truly a reflection of your beautiful spirits. Thank you for letting us be a part of it! Amazing memories… xoxo K+R.
