jellyfish punta cana wedding. {hannah & dasche}

May 26, 2014

Dasche was ‘the hot new guy’ at Hannah’s office. She found herself prancing past Dasche’s desk, trying to catch his attention. At the end of his first week, a mass email was sent welcoming “Dasche Foley, LMU graduate class of 2010, new Strategy Intern…” ‘SAY WHAT? Intern? LMU class of 2010? ohmygoodness… He’s just a baby!!’ Hannah thought. She was a whole three years his elder. ‘Most girls my age would have passed on this fresh meat but I put on my pumas and headed over to his desk for a sneak attack… “you went to LMU? OMG, me too!” Now he knew I existed.’

Lucky for Hannah, Dasche’s internship with the strategy department did not keep him busy enough, so he started to help in her department too. Each day he would reach out to the Project Managers to see if he could help with anything… naturally, Hannah was quick to take him up on the offer! ‘I quickly learned the more confusing the task I assigned to Dasche would be, the more questions/face time with my office crush I’d have.’

It wasn’t long before ‘full-fledged-flagrant-flirting’ ensued and Dasche asked Hannah 2 questions: 1. what the company policy was on interoffice dating and 2. if she would go on a date with him….

Their Dreams Palm Beach / Jellyfish Punta Cana wedding was absolutely incredible – and the very last one Mayte Mari took care of at Jellyfish restaurant. It was so tasteful, chic, and full of love!!

Hannah & Dasche – we absolutely LOVE you two and are so honoured to call you friends. Your beautiful energy, humour & lightness, the way you love each other, and the way you see the world is dear and familiar… THANK YOU for being so open, kind, and ridiculously in LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Top three things Dasche loves about Hannah: ‘Her free spirit, her unfiltered personality and mouth and her beautiful mind.’

Top three things Hannah loves about Dasche: ‘He’s a dreamer. I love his positive-contagious energy, and that he’s always “Bright eyed and Bushy Tailed!”’

Dasche was determined to pull off the proposal as a surprise, especially because Hannah is a detective at heart (so much so that her nickname is P.I. White). He shares, ‘on multiple occasions throughout our relationship, I’ve been able to trick Hannah into thinking the proposal would happen both sooner and later than it did. Secret date nights were my specialty. Misleading discussions about focusing on my career before marriage and the nine-year timeline helped my cause as well…The icing on the cake came about a month before the proposal, when Hannah returned from a bachelorette party with quite the attitude. “I feel like I have a right to know when it’s going to happen, so I can plan my life” she said with a righteous tone and a stern face. To which I replied face down, trying to hide the inner grin “Babe, I’m just not ready. It’s going to be at least another year.” That was not the response she was hoping for.’

Dasche: ‘What started off as a vision of fire letters ‘MARRY ME’ on a raft in the ocean soon became something far more sensible, at the request of Mr. Foley (the initial conversation actually resulted in some shouting…sorry Pops, I’m a dreamer!) He talked me down from my high horse and we ended up with a much more practical and elegant solution – a backlit 36″ x 48” sign to hang on a post on a rock in the ocean! From there, I was off to design the sign! Mom and Pop Foley picked it up, made the wood box, attached the lights and sealed it up.’

On THE day, Dasche took Hannah out to dinner and let her carry the conversation, in fear that the fluctuation in his voice may give him away. ‘Afterwards, I walked her down the path and then pushed her up a steep slope to the top of a cliff that overlooks the ocean. I watched her face as she spotted the illuminated letters in the ocean and the words “Marry Me?” Dasche was down on one knee. Hannah was completely shocked! The whole family was hiding in the bushes, which made the moment all the more emotional and magical.

ONE MONTH ANNIVERSARY REFLECTIONS:What did you love most about your wedding?‘Celebrating our love with our closest family and friends for 3+ days was so insanely special to us and it’s something that we’ll likely never experience again in our lifetime.’Any regrets, what would you have done differently if you could?

‘Not a single regret – it was more perfect than we could have ever dreamed.’Most memorable moments?

1) Our parents organized a welcome dinner for everyone two nights before the wedding, which was in lieu of the typical rehearsal dinner. Aside from the wedding, this was our favorite night. Everyone was getting to know each other, guests gave speeches, we swam in the ocean and partied all night.2) Walking into the Jellyfish on our wedding day and seeing everything Mayte had created for us. The restaurant is gorgeous and Mayte’s work is extraordinary.

3) Hands down favorite moment was seeing each other for the first time walking down the aisle. We’ll never forget the feeling of that moment.

Resort / vendors?

We’d loved the Dreams Palm Beach resort for our guests. It had all the activities, the food and drinks we could ever need and was in a good price range to accommodate everyone. We’d recommend the Preferred Club rooms if you can get them. We moved to the Iberostar Grand Bavaro for our honeymoon and had the BEST experience! Can’t wait to go back!
Krystie Ann did our hair & makeup and she is so incredibly talented AND so much fun to be around! So glad I got to work with her – we all felt so beautiful. Highly recommend the touch-up service she offers, especially if you’re getting married on a hot day like we did – which you probably are 😉
Mayte – We are SO BLESSED we got to work with Mayte for her last JF wedding. She is a GENIUS – she took our vision and made it even better. She pours her heart and soul into every last detail and it was perfection! Mayte – we love you!!

And as you should already know, Katya and Rob are one of a kind! Don’t go anywhere else! Working with them was the best decision we made. Katya was by far the biggest resource to us as we planned the wedding from California. We absolutely could not have done it without her! Katya – We are forever grateful for you and can’t wait to see the magic you captured! 🙂

Any advice for future brides?!

If you can, we’d suggest visiting the resort and the venue beforehand. We were experiencing and exploring each location at the same time as all of our guests, who were looking for guidance at times and we wish we could have been more knowledgable.

Finish up all of your wedding tasks before you travel, so you can completely relax and enjoy the time with your family and friends before the wedding. It was the most amazing time of our lives!
