Alexandra & Brian are amazing human beings. So incredibly tender and kind, easy-going and receptive, loving and kind… I was so excited to meet them and was so honored and nervous to be a part of their Hard Rock Punta Cana wedding! There was a unique challenge in store for me on their Big Day – giving my all creatively with no knowledge of sign language… Brian, Alexandra and some of their wedding guests are deaf. I was going over some of my Beloved notes by the Eden pool the day before the wedding and noticed that there were a bunch of people hanging out in the pool, signing amongst themselves. I worked up the courage to come up to them and introduce myself – the first person I ‘tagged’ was Kama, their awesome friend and interpreter. Minutes later I met the other interpreter, Adam, followed by more of their friends & wedding guests, who proceeded to teach me how to sign a few things, like ‘I love you,’ ‘perfect,’ ‘handsome,’ ‘beautiful,’ ‘thank you.’ That. was. awesome. Turned out, there was nothing to be nervous about! The language of love is universal 🙂
Hard Rock is one of our favourite resorts here in Punta Cana. It’s modern with just the right amount of Caribbean twist and has something for everyone. Alexandra & the girls got done up at the Moon Spa and continued getting ready at a beautiful bridal suite. Well, all rooms at the Hard Rock are stunning (and every one comes with a jacuzzi tub!) Alexandra & Brian decided not to see each other before the ceremony and it was amazing to watch Alexandra walk down the aisle. Strong gusts of wind and dramatic clouds above only intensified the emotions already running high. Everything was just right. As we finished up portraits on the beach & jumped into the trolley, it started pouring – perfect timing! The elegant reception dinner was set up near Hard Rock Casino.
A very special thanks to my new friend Mike Dronenik of MichaelD Photography, a super talented Vancouver-based photographer who will travel to Punta Cana for weddings!! 🙂
Here’s the story of the day. To Alexandra & Brian – my heart overflows with joy for you two… many many happy years! Please come back and visit us here! xoxo
