So I have to tell you. Many of our fans & friends who read this blog often chuckle and ask, ‘how is it that you & Rob have all these nice things to say about your couples? are they really such great, warm, super cool people?’ … Seriously, YES!!! You have no idea, we are so friggin lucky. Perhaps like attracts like – we continue to be blown away by the caliber of the AMAZING people we meet, whose weddings we are so honoured to document.
Stephanie & Donnie are just the perfect example. Their Hard Rock elopement was such a special one – we laughed with them, teared up with them, shared life stories, huge hugs … and witnessed them tie their lives together forever.
Stef is a social worker and Donnie is a nurse. They are so full of heart and are such selfless humanitarian spirits.
The morning these two met, Stef was running late. ‘I remember watching Donnie get out of his truck and walk towards the clinic; and I thought to myself “What is a guy like that doing here?” He held the door open for me and the minute I looked into his eyes (which are amazing!) my heart thumped. I had a patient tell me not too long before, that you have to watch out for that ‘thump’ because that means ‘it’s the real thing’!’ A few days later, Donnie softly mentioned that when she’s ready to be treated better than she’d ever been in her entire life, to let him know and he would take her out on a date. Talk about having a girl at ‘hello’!
Donnie decided to propose at work since that was where we met and he had all of their co-workers in on the surprise. ‘After I went downstairs I was met by each of our co-workers holding one red rose, as they handed me the rose they told me ‘Happy Halloween.’ Then they led me outside where Donnie was waiting for me holding the last rose. He told me that it was in this spot that he first laid eyes on me and that from that day on he has done nothing but fall more and more in love with me. He then asked if I would do him the honour of being his wife. It was more than I could have ever imagined a proposal to be! Sweet, meaningful, and so thoughtful; from all my co-workers being there to help, him being in a suit & tie, and my boss playing Train’s ‘Marry Me in the background. It was nothing less than what I would expect from him!’
Go ahead and savour these, you’ll feel like you were right there with us!
Stef & Donnie – we. adore. you. The world needs more people like you! Thank you for sharing this incredible day with us! And thank you for giving us a perfect reason to come back to New Orleans (and take you out for that ‘shrimp poboy dressed with baked Mac & cheese’) 🙂
‘Despite our difference in backgrounds (he’s a country boy from Mississippi and I’m a girl from New Orleans, he is truly my partner in crime, my other half, my best friend. I have never felt more complete, yet myself with someone else in my entire life.’

Three things Donnie loves about Stef: ‘how beautiful she is, how sweet she is, I love her heart.’
Three things Stef loves about Donnie: ‘I love how he accepts me just the way I am, he has a heart of gold. He is my best friend.’
Romantic memory: ‘when we first started dating we lived about an hour and 45 mins away from each other. Donnie would drive down to pick me up, take me to his house then drive me back home because he didn’t want me alone on the road. I thought it was the sweetest thing. Plus, I loved the long car rides, just talking, listening to old school rap, and singing and dancing in the car. It was sweet, fun, and gave us the chance to really become friends.’
I snuck up on Stef & Donnie at Toro Steakhouse to capture their romantic dinner. Good thing I did – someone had to help them with that ginormous wedding cake! 🙂
The next morning, we get together to celebrate some more, at sunrise.
‘Donnie made me believe in true love and in soul mates, which I had told myself in the past were things made up by people who wanted to believe in something that wasn’t real to make them feel better. I was wrong. Wonderfully and amazingly wrong!’
‘Because of Stef my life is now full. It feels complete….there’s no void or emptiness. I’m actually happy because of her.’
I’ve had this idea for a long time – and finally found the perfect couple to pull this off! I confessed to Stef that Rob & I indulge in this one guilty pleasure almost every time we stay at Hard Rock for our weddings… We wake up, order room service pancakes and watch old episodes of Grey’s Anatomy Netfix, in the tub! We skipped out on watching television of course… And were VERY generous with bubbles, hehe! LOVE.
