I looooove the story of how Lysa & Tanner met & fell in love – it’s pretty well exactly the story of Rob & I!
It was winter 2008 and Lysa was having a blast with her girlfriends in Mexico. One evening she saw a good-looking guy sitting at the bar and for the first time in her life came up to him to strike up a conversation. Tanner was in Mexico for his cousin’s wedding, she learnt. He was also from Florida, far enough from Lysa’s hometown of Ottawa. Although sparks flew from that instant, they both knew that starting a long-distance relationship seemed crazy. But they did. Lysa says, “when I left Mexico I felt like I had starred in some romantic comedy that was too good to be true.” (I felt exactly the same after falling for Rob in Mexico and doing numerous Edmonton-Vancouver 12-hour drives to see him!) After a few trips back and forth, Tanner made the big move to Canada to be with his love.
The way Tanner looks at Lysa is really something. Every glance he steals is filled with quiet admiration and tenderness. Like she’s the only person in the room.
Lysa is easy to love… a paramedic & a talented photographer, she is selfless, funny, generous, passionate, beautiful, hard-working, thoughtful (thank you for my lululemon present!!) and ridiculously photogenic.
I have to share the proposal story too. Lysa came home at 6:30 am from a night shift, to find the place filled with candles and roses, Tanner playing ‘their song’ and wearing the same clothes he did that first night they met in Mexico. He invited her to dance, then got down on one knee. Goosebumps!!
Nearly 50 of their loved ones joined them at Barcelo Palace Deluxe for a fun week in the sun and a beautiful beach wedding ceremony. Lysa & Tanner had access THE most luxurious penthouse suite (1 of 2 in the whole resort). It was a real treat to document girls getting ready there. The view is incredible, there’s an infinity pool and a few extra bedrooms, among gorgeous decor and almost too much space! I even dared to steal Lysa away for a mini-boudoir session at one of the bedrooms. Okay, check it out for yourself!
The view from the presidential suite – there’s the beach ceremony site, with white & aqua accents.
Perfect Barcelo Palace Deluxe beach ceremony.
Back at that gorgeous presidential suite for more portraits.
This looks more dangerous than it really is! Lysa & Tanner are standing at the edge of the infinity pool on the terrace.
Private ballroom reception dinner.
Some couples are brave enough to meet the sunrise with us the day after their wedding. It feels like a crazy idea when you wake up and it’s pitch black outside, but when you see the first rays over the calm ocean, you realize in an instant that it’s all worth it. Rob & I looooooove sunrise Rock the Dress sessions!
