bahia principe cayo levantado wedding. {sara + jonathan}

May 25, 2013

Our third time traveling to the stunning island of Cayo Levantado in Samana, Dominican Republic was for Sara & Jonathan’s beautiful wedding… made all the more beautiful by their sweet, kind, and super fun personalities and their wonderful family & friends. In their ‘homework,’ Jon had mentioned one of Sara’s great qualities being that ‘she makes EVERY person she meets feel important.’ How true. From the moments we arrived, spending time with Sara and her girls was magical! The boys didn’t disappoint either, sharing Moet by the pool to the strumming of a guitar and throwing Jon into the pool!

Their love story? Picture this… Maui, Hyatt Regency Hotel, poolside – Sara lounging around with her friends, and Jonny with his. It didn’t take long before these two young lively groups merged for cocktails and conversation. Since the girls were staying at another hotel, Sara and Jon exchanged cell numbers so that they could meet up again the next day. They all hung out for a couple days and parted ways… but Jonathan’s texts kept on coming. Followed by emails, followed by phone calls. Finally, he made the trip to Calgary from Toronto during Calgary Stampede, under the excuse of ‘seeing a friend he went to high school with.’ Over the next four years, he would fly to see this girl nearly a hundred times.

To ask for her hand, Jonathan cornered Sara on a balcony in St. Martin after a beautiful dinner, at a restaurant they fell in love with on their first vacation together.

How’s that for a balcony?!

Three things Sara loves about Jonathan: ‘his kindness; he is funny and doesn’t know it; he is a genuine good person.’

Three things Jonathan loves about Sara: ‘her personality, she makes EVERY person she meets feel important; her sincerity.’

Sara’s favorite guilty pleasures: ‘The Real Housewives of ANYTHING, chocolate, good conversation with a friend, books, and sleeping in.’

Jonathan’s favorite guilty pleasures: ‘cheese, gnocchi, and cuddle time with the wife to be.’

Most romantic memory: ‘Picnic under the Eiffel Tower in Paris! Jonathan took me there to celebrate my 30h birthday.’

Sara & Jonathan – you are AWESOME together and are masters at falling in love 🙂 (For you especially, Sara – you are such a beautiful sister-spirit).

Warm thanks to Alexandra at LUXE Destination Weddings and Simona at Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado for planning this incredible event!!
